WCSU Classes
Introductory Classes (8 weeks)
WCS 100A (4 credits)
WCS 100B (4 credits)
- By the end of these 2 classes (8 weeks) students will have acquired 8 units of class credits toward graduation of WCSU nova degree
- Students must pass placement exam to move to WCS 101
Beginner Classes (12 weeks)
*For those students who pass levels 100A & 100B or tests into 101 level*
WCS 101A – Whips: Fundamentals & Variations (4 credits)
WCS 101B - Turns (4 credits)
WCS 101C – Hand Holds (4 credits)
- Buy the end of these classes (12 weeks) students will have acquired 12 additional units of class credits toward a WCSU nova degree.
- Students must pass placement exam to move to WCS 102 level
Note: If students need extra help or would like to expand their educational experience, you may sign up for the following class (offered on Wednesdays, please check the calendar for dates offered):
WCS 200 - Lab class
- This is a small semi-private class that includes one on one instruction, video analysis and dance evaluation for level 101 courses. Time is also provided for level testing.
Transitional Classes (28 weeks)
*For those students who pass levels 101A, 101B & 101C or tests into 102 level*
WCS 102 A – Frame (4 credits)
WCS 102 B - Spins & Turns (4 credits)
WCS 102 C - Musicality & Timing Changes (4 credits)
WCS 102 D - Footwork & Syncopations (4 credits)
WCS 102 E - 3D West Coast Swing (4 credits)
WCS 102 F - Patterns (4 credits)
WCS 102 G - Presentation Position (4 credits)
- This is the level that resides between beginning and intermediate and is the most important level in the fundamentals of WCS.
- When students complete these courses they will acquire 28 credits.

WCS 201 Lab class
- A small semi-private class that includes one on one instruction, video analysis and dance evaluation for 102 level courses. Time is also provided for level testing.
A minimum of 28 class credits (4 in each of the transitional level classes) and a final exam are required to receive a nova degree from WCSU.Attendance for each class receives 1 credit. This means if you miss a class, you risk not fulfilling your necessary 4 credits.You can take private lessons for 2 credits each to make up for missed classes. Private lessons must be with a university instructor and lessons must work on the skills from missed classes.
Intermediate/Advanced
*For those students who have graduated with a Nova WCSU degree*
WCS 300 - Intermediate / Advanced
- Students must have graduated with a nova degree from WCSU to enter this class.
- Transfer students may use their 2 visitors passes to take this class, but then will need to either enroll in WCSU or pass placement exam.
- Standards for this course are strictly upheld!
Cost: Class = $40/class (Includes dance)
Visitors pass = $13/class (includes dance)
Dance Only= $5
